Loves2Smock Box

Lemme just tell you about my friend Loves2Smock…she’s one of those give you not just the shirt off her back but the pants too kinda gals.  She gives to everyone around her, often neglecting herself in the process.  I have learned so much from her…many lessons I’m not even sure she realizes she’s taught me.  Her and I are a lot alike but there are things about her that challenge me to be better and I am so very grateful to have such a friend as her.  She loves to do scrap swaps (if you read Live Faithfule you’ll recall that’s how we met) and is very generous on her end.  She doesn’t always receive the same in return and so I’ve decided to make it up to her.  Spoiling Loves2Smock with some awesome stuff just because has become my new pet project.  Loves2Smock…I luv ya girlfriend…I hope that you will enjoy the “just because you’re awesome” box I’m putting together for you!  Here is one of the things she’s getting…the card set that goes inside this box will be posted in a separate entry later, after I mail her package to her so she can still be surprised.

I followed the tut at Splendiferous Creations.  In the tutorial it said to make the belly band 1 and 1/4 by 12, but I wanted my band wider so I think I made mine 2 inches.  Here are my ingredients for this recipe:

1 12 x 12 sheet of Vintage Revisited Stamped Spots from Paper Adventures available at Joann’s or by clicking here.
1 6 x 12 piece of Moonstone Gemstones paper by Core’dinations also available at Joann’s.
Lacey Squares Nestabilities purchased from Memory Making Crafts.
Flowers and leaves from Archiver’s but I forget who makes them…I want to say Bazzil or Bo Bunny but I’m not sure.
Elements Pearl Brads by American Crafts.  Purchased from Archiver’s.
Miscellaneous sheer ribbon I got at Joann’s.

Stationery Box

This was my first attempt at a stationery box.  I didn’t like the “wrap-around” part of the box so I cut that part off.  All paper is from Joann’s and hoarded, I mean purchased, during one of their recent open stock sales.  I followed this tutorial to create this box.  This box was made for Baby Girl.  Mister, Sass Master, and Come-back Queen liked it so much they want one of their own.  Even my friend Loves2Smock is green with envy!  I guess this means I have 4 more to make at a bare minimum huh?!?!?

Altered Composition Books

One of my favorite things to alter are composition books.  This probably goes way back to the days when I first used one in 6th or 7th grade and it was beyond ugly.  As part of our first assignment in English class, we had to cover it.  Though many kids chose to buy paper book covers, I improvised.  I don’t recall exactly what it looked like, (gimme a break folks it HAS been a few years…yes I said just a few), but I know that I used white printer paper and gold foil stars…lots of stars.  Here are some of the altered composition books I’m now creating:

On this one I actually used my Cricut Expression with the From My Kitchen Cartridge to create the divider.

This is one of my all time favorite cards to make and one I do a lot.  I haven’t taken pictures of all of them.  The fairy in this image is also colored using water-color pencils then a tiny wet paint brush.  The space behind the watermark in the first image is where I wrote a note for the recipient.

Given for Mother’s Day

This was the first one I made…it was for my Dad to thank him for all the wonderful things he is and all the wonderful things he does for my children and I.  Yeah, I’m TOTALLY a Daddy’s girl!

There are many tutorials out there for how to make these cards.  I prefer the full-front trifold shutter cards shown here.  The tutorial for it is located at Tri Shutter Card Sample and Tutorial by Craftiblog.  I’ve also included the basic tri shutter card if anyone wants to try their hand at it.
